We Should End Daylight Saving Time
Summer time and daylight savings time are other terms which can be used interchangeably with daylight saving time. The practice of adjusting the clocks one hour forward during summer in order to have an extra hour in the evening and reduced hours in the morning is known as daylight saving time. During spring, the clock is adjusted one hour ahead and during autumn, they are adjusted one hour back. The DST has an effect of cutting the number of sleeping hours during spring and adding an extra of sleeping in autumn. Energy crisis resulted in the invention of the daylight saving time. Of late, some people and organizations are proposing the abolition of the DST. The following are the major reasons why I support the end of the daylight saving time.
Daylight saving time should be abolished since it has led to more road accidents. Daylight saving time deprives us one hour of sleep and this has led to more road accidents. Austin C an economist discovered this after doing four tests. In spring, a lot of road accidents happen due to one hour of sleep being lost and this has led to more deaths. The best way to reduce road deaths is by supporting the petition to end daylight savings.
A lot of people have had heart attacks because of DST. After advancing the clocks by an hour, a lot of people have had heart attacks. Blockage of vessels that carry blood to the heart can be caused by DST. Research shows that the risk of having a heart attack after losing an hour of sleep is very high. The End Daylight Saving Time petition should be approved.
Daylight saving time has been proved to increase the energy costs rather than reducing the costs. The reason why DST was proposed was to save on energy usage. We have enough sources of energy hence DST should be ended.
DST increases the power bills. The DST will cut down on the cost of lighting but increase the cost of air conditioning. The extra hour of extended daylight will increase the cost of energy used in air conditioning and this is the reason by the daylight savings time should be abolished.
Jobs, billing and record keeping has been proven to be altered by daylight savings time. If you are working at night and the clock is advanced by an hour, you will lose one working hour.
Lastly, daylight saving time brings effect similar to those caused by jetlag. Once the clocks are forwarded by an hour, your body clock will not be synchronous with the clocks and this results to fatigue, insomnia, and headache.
Finally, these reasons are enough to abolish daylight saving time.
