Care For The American Military

After World War One, thousands of military men had difficulties in finding a job, sought medical assistance and no financial support from the government that is why on 23 February 1929, the Military Officers Association of America (formerly known as Retired Officers Association) was established which aims to provide military retirement benefits while keeping close relations among uniformed personnel in America.

This association was formed by the genius minds of Earl and Countess Haig, Marshal of the Fleet Earl Betty, Marshal of the Royal Air Force Viscount Trenchard and City of London, and was supported by many.

The Military Officers Association of America has a rough estimate of subscribers around 380,000 and is the largest organization for military men, way back 1944 it only had 2,000 members.

It is the largest organization for the welfare of uniformed officers working under the United States Army, the United States Marine Corps, the United States Navy, the United States Air Force, the United States Coast Guard, the United States Public Health Service, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, even deceased officers who have surviving spouses can enroll.

Not only is healthcare and retirement provided by the Military Officers Association of America but they also educational support for the children and career transition assistance is provided to the members.

By providing military men and their families with lifetime benefits, they are able to encourage more individuals to work as a uniformed officer, on top of that, the association updates the members about any national defense issues and pending legislative cases.

However, the association does not support or encourage military strategy debates or any specific weapons systems.

Their first headquarters was located in Los Angeles, California and in 1944 was moved to Washington, currently their headquarters is located in Alexandria, Virginia, United States.

The Military Officers Association of America has a total of 36 board members each representing a specific geographical region and a uniformed personnel, they elect a chairman, 3 vice chairman, chief financial officer, secretary and an association president who is in charge of running the organization.

The association receives assistance from charities all over the world to help these military men who have done so much for the country, The Royal British Legion, the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity, ABF-The Soldiers’ Charity, the RAF Benevolent Fund, as well as other service and civilian charities, are just some of them.
